Firstly I would like to introduce myself. My name is John and I am the proud owner of Big John’s Angling Direct Limited in Basildon, Essex.

I opened the business in March 2000 when I saw a huge gap in the market for the general fisherman. It was a real struggle to begin with as we were trying to push into a market with some very big players.

Our first year was a hard learning curve, not knowing the impact we were going to have on the marketplace, but to our credit, we exceeded all expectations and several years later, thanks to our hard working staff we are still here growing week on week.

We are now a medium sized, well stocked, family run business with huge future potential. Hence the new e-commerce website!

We still enjoy catering for the beginner angler; after all, it is these people that are our future. We also cater for the match, course, carp, pike, barbel and other specimen fishermen.

The staff are constantly moving and adjusting stock to try and create more space for the vast amount of new products that seem to be released almost weekly!!!
